I See London ...

Psst ... your thong is showing.

Yes, you. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about, either. And you, miss "ultra-low rise jeans", please don't bend over to pick up your pen next time. We're begging you.

Let the battle of opinions rage on about immigration, global warming and the newest crop of presidential candidates. I think we have an issue we can all agree to rally, er, behind. Current Debates community leader cl-tashlb isn't afraid to tackle the real issues of society. She starts off a discussion that has my new all-time favorite subject line: Peek-A-Boo Crack & Thong

"I take DD to gymnastics, the park, etc. and I am getting tired of looking at not only teenagers but also Moms who display their thongs above the pant line and show a little butt-crack."

It doesn't take long for the pent-up public outcry to ensue:

"Showing off your g-string and crack means you need to put on more clothing. 'Hip huggers' may be fashionable but I have to wonder if these girls/women ever notice that they're showing off half their behind when they bend over."

"I went out with a bunch of co-workers a couple of years ago. One girl had her thong about 3 inches above her pants. I told her that I could see her thong and she said "I know ... I like to show it off". She then pulled it up even higher. "

Heaven help us.

Is the peek-a-boo thong epidemic only going to get worse? Will we soon be seeing thongs peeking out of power suits in the boardroom? Is crack the new black? Share your observations and predictions for this fashion trend run amok.

Just say no to crack!

I think I can handle the thong showing more than I can stand to see the crack showing ;)

Gosh, the thong thing really bugs me. Especially in a work environment...it's one thing at a nightclub, but it's just never appropriate to show off undergarments to work colleagues!!!

Kay said:

Gosh you would not believe this. One day I was in my body toner class and this grandma in front of had her pink sparkly thong showing from her rolled down sweat pants. She had to have been about 65. Not a pretty site at all. Ick. I think it's just plumb awful the way people are doing that these days. What happened to decency??

I guess I just don't see what's "attractive" about it. I mean, who care what underwear you're wearing...right?

I don't see how that's something I'd want to show off. Maybe I'm just weird?

I thought you had escaped all that in the US as when the bare midrif thing hit here (UK) three years ago i was very relieved to notice that it hadn't caught on in America then. However....you are now suffering from it too.

When in the US this spring I was delighted to hear that the slang for a thong is "butt floss"....very apt!

Oh my gosh! I am so sick of seeing other's undies! What are they thinking ? That it's cute? NOT! And I really don't want to see their crack....gross!

Wanda said:

Yuck! I was never a big fan of the high school fashion where the pants hung really low and you could see the boys boxers either. IMHO, underwear has it's place - UNDER what you're wearing!

Bre said:

I agree with Wanda...underwear should be UNDER!

Personally, most of the men I see at nightclubs, etc, love to see a thong. As for butt crack, even the men don't like to see that.

I think the thong has it's place and that's at night clubs only.

dipsy_doodly said:

I guess if I was at a club, it might be expected, but my clubbing (and my thong-worthy rear) are past that. I'll still wear 'em for comfort's sake, but show 'em off? Nah. Not for me... and trust me, you'll thank me for that! ;-)

How about the married coworker who purposely unbuttons her shirt to the middle of her breastbone and wears a navy blue bra under a sheer white shirt? Showing off underwear is a pathetic cry for attention, and the wrong kind of attention at that.

Suz said:

yuck. Handyman syndrome is apparently contaigious and it's waaaaaaay over the line of decency. Put some clothes on!

Sure, men like to see a thong but exactly what are they thinking about the woman wearing it? Most men I know think she's a loose hussy.

Do these women really think they are respected?

I agree with all of you.I personally miss the days when jeans were made to fit ABOVE the hip bone, not below. those of us who have kids would be so much more comfortable if we could find those again...hide the baby fat and not feel like our pants are gonna fall off our butts.

It's bad enough to see a "whale tail" on someone who's got the body to show it off, but it's really gross to see it on someone who really should be covering up - like me, lol... I bet people would pay me NOT to show my thong or crack! ;)

Redheaded One said:

Oh and MrsBradley72, I, like you, am beyond ready for the return of higher waisted pants! I think I saw someone on "Today" talking about how they were coming back, but so far that's it. I think the beginning of that trend for lower and lower waistlines is when I really started bucking trends altogether in favor of what fits me and my body type. ;)

Say_no_to_crack said:

Why is it that most of the ladies I see showing their thongs, or midriffs, etc. are the ones that could stand to wear a bit more to cover up their "flub"? Believe me, I've got flub! I keep it covered!

KLyn said:

Ick! No thank you. I don't like seeing underwear (men or women) and I especially don't want to see their hind parts.

What I hate more is that there are thongs being marketed to young girls (5, 6, 7 yr olds) What's the point in that other than parents wanting their little girls to look sexy -- and that's sick.

Portia said:

Crack and thongs belong under clothes but I am thankful for low-waisted clothes. They can be as tasteful as any other pants if the appropriate top is selected with them. If someone wants to look trashy under the guise of getting attention, they will find a way no matter where the pants sit or what the trends are. It's the person, not the clothes.

I think there is a time and place for everything. I have no issues with anyone wearing a thong (I know some very nice women who wear thongs - doesn't mean they are cheap or slutty). Showing it off doesn't really bother me as long as it's not in a place of business or an educational environment. I do think young girls should not be showing it, regardless of where they are.

Kate said:

I agree with beebee, there's a time and place. I remember when I discovered my pre-teen's first thong in the laundry. I thought I'd faint! But beebee's right, wearing them doesn't make you cheap or slutty. People who show their underwear and body parts need to make sure they've chose the right time and place to do it.

MaryEllen2B said:

If I found a thong in my laundry that belonged to my pre-teen, I would want to know two things. One, where did she get it and two, why? Then it would be quickly put in the trash. Kids grow up too quickly, young girls dont need adult underwear.

Tasha said:

Remember the jokes about plumbers, it was distateful for them and it is sure distasteful for any sex young and old.

"Is crack the new black?" Ewwww, I certainly hope not!

Claire said:

Crack is whack!

Wren said:

Why bother wearing anything if you are going to wear those. To Each his/her own on undies, :)

gata said:

it's not just women.....i've seen some gay men and TSs literally showing off their thongs to everybody around them with some deliberate bending over.

Catherine said:

Personally, I'm sick of seeing undies, butts, and boobs at work....and I work at an elementary school. Women of the World: Treat yourself like the queens you really are & put some clothes on, PLEASE!!!!

marina said:

i think thongs showing the behind are simply bad taste.

ukgirl82 said:

Well I wear ultra low rise jeans and never have undies or crack showing. Maybe because I'm so small? (5ft, 97lbs). And therefore have a tiny heiny? Or maybe I just know how to wear undies that don't show! I don't wear thongs so no worries there.

gary said:

Thongs and crack are HOT! Loved them in 1970 and still enjoying them now!
Hip huggers make a women look curvier and with a bare tummy and back...its sooooooo fine! Hip huggers forever!

Chuck said:

Ladies, men do NOT like using their imagination! Less is MORE! I like women of all shapes and sizes from 90 to 300 pounds! She still looks fine in a string bikini to me. The lower the hip huggers the better I say! Im so addicted to crack!

Thomas said:

Low rise attenuate the female body. It brings out the shape of her delicious hinny. Love the short shirts, tattooes, visible thongs and BB rings! The only people who dont like it are jealous they cant pull it off. I wish more women would wear them adn the style never fades. . Thank you, Brittany!

Jim said:

Everytime I see a honey with low riders bending over with crack showing I just wanna crawl in there and never come out!
Girls, dont listen to the jealous womens comments in this forum. Wear'm cuz we men love'm!

well it turns me on and it is sexy and it makes a statement about being sexy because it is perceived as such. I like it, though I never would ask a girl friend to do that unless she wanted to. My girl friend always wears thongs. She agrees at our senior citizen age it isnt pleasant to see above her pants, but on a woman in her twenties she thinks it would look nice.
