Seen and Heard

There's always something buzzing in the iVillage community ... here are just a few things women are talking about this week:

-- Forget about who wears the pants! What we really want to know is ... who buys the underwear? [on the Feminism Today message board]

-- Are all mothers-in-law inherently evil? One MIL shares her point of view. [on the Dealing with In-Laws message board]

-- So Giuliani doesn't know the price of a gallon of milk ... does this make him out of touch with the reality the rest of us are living? Is it really that surprising and does it matter when it comes to being a presidential candidate? iVillagers have been tackling this hot political topic -- and many more. [on the Politics Today message board]

-- Langston Hughes asked what happens to a dream deferred and one iVillager is contemplating the same question. "Dreams - they can motivate us, drag us down if we think we cannot accomplish them or burn at our soul as we try to fulfill them." [on iVillager luvorange2's Connect blog]

-- "I am so tired of moving things from place to place and I can't stand it anymore. I don't know how other people can keep their homes clean and organized and I can't." Sound familiar? Share your organizing pitfalls and get help from others making changes one day at a time. [on the iGet Organized Community Challenge forum]

I read a great quote the other day that I was just now reminded of, reading luvorange2's blog: No matter what you think you can do, or think you can't do, you're right.

Interesting stuff going on around iVillage, as always!! :)

Intimate Apparel for men eh? I'm not seeing my husband shopping in that department.

I am very thankful that I have a fabulous MIL! In fact, all of DH's family is terrific.

I joined the challenge yesterday and it's already helping! You should see the stack of mail I have to tackle!

laughing here at who buys the underwear... dh won't buy anything unless it's a tech gadget... anything else falls to me!

Okay, I didn't post the "tired of moving things around" comment, but I could have! And yes, I've already joined. If you haven't already, c'mon over -- the more, the merrier! :-)

Loving the new challenge. There's no excuse to forget when reminders are sent each day.

I loved the MIL thread. Let's just say that my own MIL has taught me exactly how I DON'T want to be someday when my own son gets married.

I enjoyed the MIL conversation, too. While my own relationship with my MIL wasn't the best in the world, I've tried to focus the good things we did share at times and let go of the bad. The bottom line is, whether she intended to or not, she helped me to become what I hope is a better MIL to my own son's wife.

LOL at the thought of men in the Intimate Apparels section - at least to buy stuff for themselves!

I had to stop reading the in-laws info. Some of it was hitting close to home but I think overall, I got lucky with the in-laws.

The poem from luvorange2's Connect blog was very inspiring! I love reading all the different things going on at iVillage!

LOL about the intimate apparel thread, I didn't think anything of it until reading the replies, funny! And I guess my MIL isn't that strange in comparison to some out there. Thanks for these links, it's nice to have this variety :)

yes - MIL's are evil... Mine even used a big purple bouquet for my birthday to make the day "strange" for me... EVIL EVIL EVIL!
